Cody O'Neil
$5,000 National Winner

Cody O'Neil - Kelowna Secondary School, Kelowna, British Columbia

Cody is a student who knows how to shoot for the stars in every sense. He has a passion for space exploration and hopes one day to be an astronaut. He has already achieved a lot in the field of science, having won national and international science competitions, including a gold medal at the Taiwan International Science Fair. He has also won awards in mathematics, social studies, and language courses. In addition to academics, Cody has been recognized for his athletic endeavours, earning MVP honours in cross country, track & field, volleyball, hockey, soccer, and rugby. His interest in acting led him to be a part of his school's theatre performance, directing, and language theatre clubs.

In school and out, Cody has a commitment to making the world a better place. He is a founding member of his high school’s Environmental club, Tutoring program, Science Fair, and Smartrisk Club. Outside of school, he has been involved with the Okanagan Research Innovation Centre, Community Science and Technology Youth Outreach, and the Science Fair Foundation of British Columbia, among others.

One of Cody’s favourite sayings is “Shoot for perfection, and you’ll get something close.” Congratulations and keep aiming high Cody!
